For most senior move managers and estate liquidators, a successful auction is about more than increasing auction values and lowering client fees.
It is also about finding new homes for as many items as possible, and minimizing what ends up in a landfill.
BidRush auctions often achieve sell-through rates of 90% or higher. But auctions can leave a small number of items unsold.
What if those remaining items could still find new homes?
Introducing BidRush Giveaways
After an auction closes, the seller can use BidRush’s innovative Giveaway feature to select which unsold items they would like to offer for free, and set an expiry time. Simply navigate to the Lots Manager on your desktop to access this feature. From there you can either giveaway all unsold lots or lots you select to giveaway.

BidRush then notifies everyone who either:
- Placed a bid in the auction; or
- Added an item from the auction to their watchlist.
These bidders and watchers can return to the auction and claim the selected items for free on a first-come, first-served basis until the expiry date/time you set.
A prominent CLAIM badge appears on each available lot on the website, making it easy for interested people seeing the website to see what is still available.
The Same Organized Pickup Process
Giveaway items follow the auction’s existing pickup rules. Anyone claiming an item must collect it at the published pickup date, time and location.
Once an item is claimed:
- The buyer receives a $0 invoice containing the pickup instructions.
- The claimed item is added to the seller’s pickup report.
- The seller can manage paid and giveaway pickups through the same organized process.
There is no need to arrange a separate giveaway event, contact people individually or create another system for tracking who claimed each item.
From 13 Unsold Items to Just 3
Judy Rickey of Clutter Relief Services recently used the Giveaway feature following one of her BidRush auctions.
When bidding closed, only 13 items remained unsold, an unsold rate of approximately 6%.
Judy selected 10 of those items for the Giveaway feature, and bidders claimed them for free. That left only three items without a new home.
The final unsold rate fell from approximately 6% to just 1.3%: a 77% reduction in the number of remaining items.
In other words, nearly 99% of the auction’s inventory was either sold or claimed.
Better for Clients, Communities and the Environment
Not every item will attract a winning bid, but that does not mean it has no value.
A household item that may otherwise require removal, donation coordination or disposal could be exactly what a local bidder needs. The BidRush Giveaway feature reconnects those items with an already-engaged group of nearby people who are attending the same pickup.
For sellers and their clients, that can mean:
- Fewer items left behind after the auction.
- Lower disposal and cleanout costs.
- Less waste sent to landfills.
- More usable items kept in circulation.
- A simpler and more organized estate-clearance process.
BidRush helps senior move managers and estate liquidators generate stronger auction results, reduce client fees and add new revenue to their businesses. The Giveaway feature extends that mission by helping them find homes for almost everything else.
Because the best estate-clearance outcome is not simply selling more.
It is leaving less behind.
