The Downsizing Doula

WOW! A gavel used by the one and only Sam Rayburn! I was born in Texas and grew up with his history so rather proud of him. Sam Rayburn was a powerful Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives who served for a record 17 years. A Texas Democrat, he championed President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal, helped pass the Rural Electrification Act, and expertly guided crucial World War II funding and Civil Rights legislation through Congress. Then there's the signed note from W. B. Bankhead, the Speaker of the House during FDR, 1939-1941, the 76th Congress. And a historical book, 'The Story of the Constitution' by Sol Bloom and published in 1937. What a treasure trove of American History!!
