Description

16 pcs -large bowl is cracked in bottom -not all is antique but many have 557 on the bottom Antique English Regency bat-printed bone china, likely made by Spode or New Hall circa 1805–1815.The Technique: The monochrome landscape scenes are not hand-painted; they are decorated via bat-printing (or en grisaille printing). This precise historical method transferred detailed copperplate engravings onto the glaze using flexible oil pads or "bats".The Style: The combination of detailed pastoral scenes, country cottages, ruins, and gold-line rims on a crisp white ground is characteristic of early 19th-century English tea services. The Maker: Spode famously produced this look under Pattern 557 (featuring bridges, rivers, and notable country estates)
