Description

Royal Doulton Lambeth Slater’s Patent stoneware 13” vase. Gilt and cobalt glazed body with light blue and white painted lace floral relief. A museum-quality antique fine stoneware baluster vase produced at Royal Doulton Lambeth studio, showcases John Slater’s famous "Chiné" patent technique, where real antique lace fabric was pressed into the wet clay to forge a highly tactile texture. The heavily gilded, lace-impressed midsection is beautifully hand-enameled with light blue and white floral relief work. The body is framed by a flared neck and pedestal foot covered in a rich, smooth cobalt blue glaze accented with hand-painted gold rings. The base features a complete set of clean, legible marks including the Royal Doulton crown/lion logo, the Doulton & Slater's Patent stamp, shape number 1651, and incised artisan monograms. • Manufacturer: Royal Doulton Lambeth (England) • Technique: Slater's Patent Lace Impressed (Chiné Ware) • Era: Edwardian (Circa 1902–1914) • Shape Number: 1651 • Dimensions: 13" Height × 5.5" Diameter
