Description

highly collectible pair of French porcelain cabinet cups and matching high-sided saucers. Beautifully styled as a tribute to the First Imperial Epoch, this matched set features hand-painted portrait miniatures of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and his first wife, Empress Joséphine. • Napoleon is depicted in his iconic gold coronation robes and laurel wreath hood. Joséphine wears her signature high lace veil, a rose accent in her hair, and her imperial tiara. Both portraits are framed by rich crimson borders and heavy, ornate gold gilt leaf accents. • Handmade Craftsmanship: The undersides of the saucers feature an overglaze iron-red stenciled "M. Imp.le de Sèvres" mark alongside historic collector paper labels. Reflecting genuine 19th-century workshop production, the saucer bases feature a beautiful, subtle "visual wave" along the bottom foot rings—a classic indicator of authentic hand-trimmed kiln fabrication rather than modern machine-pressed manufacturing. One of the handles looks like it might have been repaired underneath top
