Description

• Blue and White Transferware Soup Tureen (Right): A large, ornate lidded vegetable or soup tureen featuring an English or Staffordshire-style scenic transfer print with handles and a detailed tiered lid. • Blue and White Transferware Lidded Dish (Left): A smaller two-handled lidded bowl, likely a sauce or gravy tureen, decorated with a similar blue-and-white pastoral pattern produced by Joseph Clementson who operated the Phoenix Works (and later the Bell Works) in Hanley (Shelton), Stoke-on-Trent, England. • this piece was manufactured between 1839 and 1864. The pattern name is "UDINA". Introduced in the 1840s, Udina is a romanticized, ethereal landscape pattern typical of early Victorian transferware. It usually depicts highly detailed, imaginary European or orientalist river scenes with mountains, classical structures, and elegant trees. • Ceramic Lidded Pot (Center): A smaller, simpler blue-and-white jar with a knob lid and landscape motif.
