The back is open and it is intended as a decorative surround rather than a functional, heat-rated firebox enclosure. This is a solid wood constructed mantel with applied moldings and panel work, finished in a dark stain prior to being painted. CONDITION The mantel shows normal wear consistent with storage and handling. This is not an antique piece and is modern construction. No maker’s mark was found.
