Description

These are difficult to find and rare and this is the photo of a dead, Confederate Sharp shooter. I would assume this is Antietam given the 1863 date. Gardner was a photographer for Matthew Brady and left to be on his own after the battle of Antietam. Mrs. labeled on the reverse Gardner’s gallery on the corner of seventh and D. Street Washington DC and number 244 of his photographs
