Description

A pendant pair of original early 20th-century watercolors by the noted British landscape artist Henry James Sage (1868–1953). Known for his detailed depictions of rural Surrey architecture, Sage beautifully captures alternative perspectives of the historic Ferry Path in the St Catherine's district of Guildford. Both pieces feature classic brick cottages, timbered framing, prominent brick chimneys, and winding dirt paths executed in the artist’s signature soft, earthy color palette. The artworks are housed in matching elegant frames with custom double-matting, presenting an exceptional display opportunity for collectors of regional British art. Medium: Watercolor on paper Third piece is by Louis Wain (1860–1939), a famous English illustrator renowned for his whimsical, anthropomorphic drawings of cats. He spent his career creating humorous cat illustrations that mirrored Victorian and Edwardian society. His work experienced a major resurgence in popularity following the 2021 biographical film The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. This is not an original.
