Description

This is a matched pair of decorative acanthus-leaf corbels in a classical architectural style. They are solid cast decorative wooden pieces, finished in a bronze and gilt rubbed finish that highlights the raised leaf detail. The form is inspired by classical and neoclassical architectural ornament — acanthus leaves are a traditional Corinthian-style motif. Each corbel has a flat stepped top, making them suitable for use as: small wall shelves base for glass or wooden shelf display brackets architectural accents bookend-style décor when placed on a console or mantel These were most likely made late 20th century (circa 1980s–2000s) as decorative architectural accents. They are decorative, not load-bearing architectural supports. Good decorative vintage condition.
