The clock features a cream-toned dial with bold black Roman numerals, black metal hands, and printed French text reading “LE CACHEUR” and “CHATEAU THIERRY.” The clock is housed in a deep-profile metal frame with a muted gray industrial finish. Generations of French train travelers passed this clock on their way through the station at Chateau-Thierry, a historic town about 50 miles northeast of Paris. Over its decades of service, the clock earned a patina of watermarks and verdigris that only burnished its role as a local elder statesman.
