Description

Beautiful standalone late 19th-century Bohemian black amethyst art glass vase, featuring the identical hand-painted bird and water lily pattern and matching height profile as the renowned pattern #12 studio pair in lot 274 with a wider opening. Blown from heavy, high-gloss "black glass" that reveals a rich royal purple amethyst color under direct sunlight, this variant piece features a slightly wider rim silhouette and a smooth, unnumbered base with a polished pontil mark. • Origin: Northern Bohemia (Czech/German region; style of Harrach/Moser) • Period: Late Victorian (c. 1880–1900) • Artwork: Identical hand-painted bird & foliage motif as pattern #12 • Quantity: 1 (Single Companion Variant) Condition Report: Good antique condition with no structural cracks or chips. The high-gloss glass body shows minor surface shelf wear and a few smooth, shallow "open bubbles" from the original 19th-century hand-blowing process rather than post-factory damage. Faint surface wear and minor paint fading present on the delicate exterior enamel artwork. Please note-it was very hard to get a photo in the sun without me but I did see the sun as purple.
