The Ultimate Space-Saving Marvel (Made in Romania – circa 1960s If you are looking for the absolute gold standard of clever, functional mid-century engineering, this is it. This vintage Romanian gateleg dining set is the ultimate chameleon piece. Perfect for apartments, condos, guest quarters, or anyone who loves to host but wants to maximize their daily floor space. Console Mode: Fully collapsed, it functions as a sleek, rolling console or entryway side table that takes up a footprint of only about 11.5 inches wide. Gorgeous piece of wood furniture... with a secret! Breakfast Mode: Swing out just one gateleg leaf to create a perfect 2-person workstation or breakfast nook. Full Dining Mode: Swing out both heavy-duty gatelegs to reveal a sprawling, gorgeous full-sized dining table that comfortably seats 4-6 adults. The Magic Trick: Slide open the side of the central console to reveal a hidden "garage" that perfectly holds all four included flat-folding wood slat chairs. They stow completely out of sight when not in use. Complete 5-Piece Set: I've seen a few of these but they are rarely complete and in such good condition as this one. It is incredibly rare to find these vintage sets intact with all 4 original chairs. This set is complete. All 4 chairs and the table have the Romanian maker's mark. Mobility: Rides on its original, premium brass-hooded ball casters, making it effortless to wheel from a wall or closet right into the center of the room. Craftsmanship: Built from tight-grained European hardwood with a rich, warm walnut/teak finish that showcases gorgeous, prominent wood grain patterns across the tabletop. Condition: Excellent structural and functional vintage condition. The gatelegs swing smoothly, the casters roll easily, and the chairs fold beautifully flat. Shows some light, authentic age-appropriate surface wear/scuffs to the wood finish as expected with vintage furniture, only adding to its mid-century character. Dimensions: Table (Fully Extended): 61" W × 34" D × 29" H Table (Fully Collapsed): 11.5" W × 34" D × 29" H Chairs: 31" H (Total Height) with a standard 17" seat height.
