Up for auction is a beautiful piece of mid-century history: a vintage footed metal trinket box manufactured during the Occupied Japan era (1945–1952). This rectangular casket-style box is constructed from heavy, non-magnetic gold-toned metal (likely brass) with an intentionally textured, hand-hammered finish underneath. The hinged lid features a crisp diamond-shaped central medallion depicting a classic sailing vessel or galleon, beautifully framed by a dense, raised scrollwork and floral relief border. Opening the box reveals its original, intact interior: a clean wood-lined base paired with a striking hot pink/magenta velvet-padded cushion lining on the floor and inner lid. The bottom is clearly stamped with the historical "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN" stamp alongside the "T.K" manufacturer mark set inside a diamond outline. A highly collectible, unique accent piece perfect for jewelry, vanity storage, or display. • Era: Post-WWII Occupied Japan (1945–1952) • Maker Mark: T.K in a diamond cartouche • Material: Non-magnetic gold-toned metal (brass) / Wood interior / Velvet lining • Exterior Design: Sailing ship central medallion surrounded by floral scrollwork relief • Interior Color: Vibrant magenta/hot pink velvet • Dimensions: Approximately 4.25" Long x 3" Wide (Please refer to the photos with the tape measure for exact sizing reference) Condition Report: Excellent vintage condition for its age. The hinge operates smoothly and sits square. The exterior shows a beautiful, authentic aged patina with light surface wear, minor tarnish spots, and character consistent with age. The interior velvet lining remains exceptionally clean, vibrant, and free of major tears or heavy staining. Please inspect all high-resolution photos to confirm the exact cosmetic state before bidding.
